About ANVA bv

ANVA is a full-service IT provider, founded in 1975, specializing in software and support for the financial and insurance market. Our software supports efficient insurance processes and financial advisory services. This allows you to optimize your business operations and develop lasting customer relationships. Our software is developed in collaboration with our customers and partners, with the aim of creating maximum connectivity between your ANVA Insurance Platform and the ecosystem of other internal and external applications in your landscape.

The ANVA Insurance Platform is the technical heart of your organization. Reliable and future-proof connections between ANVA and the broader IT landscape are therefore essential to ensure your business continuity. We are fully committed to this every day.

About ANVA Data Solutions and the Developer Portal

ANVA offers a wide range of data solutions for accessing data from ANVA 4, 5, and 6 and for storing external data back in ANVA, archiving it, or deleting it. The website anva.nl is the central hub for developers, where all information about these solutions for ANVA 4, 5, and 6 is collected.

The target architecture for each ANVA version describes which data solutions are available and how to use them, as well as the preconditions, risks, and costs involved. This includes information about ANVA Extract, ANVA Hub, our APIs, the XML module, and the ANVA Data Platform. With this information and these guidelines, we enable you to properly set up and maintain all applications to be integrated on the ANVA Insurance Platform.

Questions and feedback

If you have any questions or feedback, please contact ANVA using the contact details provided on the ANVA Developer Portal. You can also use the contact form. Enjoy using the ANVA APIs!

1. Terms of Use ANVA Data Solutions and Developer Portal

1.1 Applicability of these terms of use

The Developer Portal and all APIs and related documentation for developers found there are intended exclusively for ANVA customers. This also includes any third party specifically engaged as an external contractor for software development purposes by our customers. All work performed by third-party developers for an ANVA customer is at all times the responsibility of that customer.

These terms and conditions apply in addition to the existing customer agreement you already have with ANVA, or—if you are an external contractor—that your client has with ANVA. In the event of a conflict between a clause in the existing agreement and a clause in these terms and conditions, the latter clause shall take precedence. However, if any clause of these terms and conditions is declared invalid or unenforceable, the corresponding clause of the existing agreement shall apply.

In both cases where you work as an (externally hired) developer for an ANVA customer, the ANVA customer is fully responsible and liable for the use, results, and shortcomings of the information, APIs, and data solutions offered via the Developer Portal, in accordance with the applicable agreement between the ANVA customer and ANVA bv.

By using the Developer Portal and related materials, you declare that you are a customer of ANVA, or have been engaged by a customer of ANVA, and that you agree to these terms and conditions, unless otherwise agreed in the agreement between the ANVA customer and ANVA bv.

1.2 Purpose and required technical skills

With the Developer Portal, we aim to provide an easily accessible, technically manageable platform with standard connections that strengthens the integration of systems and services within the insurance, power of attorney, and financial advisory fields.

ANVA APIs may only be used by technically skilled engineers, and only for the purpose of achieving seamless insurance software integrations based on our standardized ANVA Insurance Platform.

1.3 Liability and risks

The use of our solutions is entirely at your own risk. You acknowledge that incorrect use of APIs may negatively affect the data integrity and/or availability of ANVA and related systems on ANVA. In addition, ANVA provides its APIs 'as is' and 'as available', without any guarantees. ANVA cannot be held responsible or liable for claims relating to the use or (un)availability of an API, unless agreed in a contract, and you will indemnify ANVA against such claims from third parties.

1.4 Updating and withdrawing components

ANVA may update and/or withdraw an (API) component at any time and without notice. In the event that an API and/or other ANVA software component is updated or withdrawn, it is possible that a solution built to work with this API or software component will no longer function (properly). ANVA cannot be held responsible or liable for any loss of functionality or other inconveniences resulting from an update or withdrawal of a software component, and you will indemnify ANVA against any third-party claims related to this.

1.5 Fair Use Policy

The Fair Use Policy described here applies to the use of all ANVA data solutions:

· Any use that violates the law and/or agreements with ANVA is prohibited.

· As a user and ANVA customer, you accept and respect these terms and conditions and ensure that you have sufficient knowledge of our solutions and these terms and conditions before carrying out your work.

· You will refrain from any use and from developing and using software that could jeopardize the capacity, availability, or connectivity of our systems and servers or the continuity of the ANVA organization.

· ANVA customers may use our APIs. Third parties may only use our solutions on the direct instructions of and on behalf of those customers. Use of our solutions is restricted for third parties that do not offer insurance market-related solutions and/or that are based outside the countries to which ANVA supplies solutions to its customers.

· ANVA has the right to apply a (rate) limit to performance when the overall expected usage exceeds the limits of fair use, continuity, stability, and/or costs. For example, when the number and frequency of requests sent by ANVA APIs to your systems cause (potential) risks, such as technical, functional, security, continuity, or cost-increasing risks.

· Access restrictions, blocking APIs, and shutting down the Data Platform may be implemented without prior notice if ANVA deems this necessary.

· Each customer receives a freely spendable number of ANVA Data Platform credits (fair use limit). The number of credits depends on the number of policies and contracts you manage with ANVA. If you use more credits, you will be charged for the number of extra credits used.

1.6 Support

ANVA does not offer any form of support for ANVA Data Solutions, content, and available technical components, unless and to the extent specified in the ANVA software agreement between the ANVA customer and ANVA bv.

1.7 Intellectual property rights and AI

We remind you that ANVA bv and/or its licensors retain full intellectual property rights to ANVA Data Solutions, the Developer Portal, and all content therein, all of which are considered confidential information belonging to ANVA. Sharing this content with persons outside your organization is not permitted. In addition, it is not permitted to copy, modify, distribute, publish, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works of software, documentation, and other content, solutions, parts, and technical components located on the Developer Portal and related locations. Not digitally, not electronically, and not through the use of AI, under any circumstances. Uploading Developer Portal content and ANVA Data Solutions into AI and language model-based software, systems, or technologies of any kind is strictly prohibited. Violation of this policy may result in direct liability to the processor, to the ANVA customer, and a liability claim by ANVA against the customer.

The foregoing does not affect software and other materials developed independently by you, nor your intellectual property rights therein; these remain yours.

1.8 Changes to the terms of use

We are continuously developing the Developer Portal and data solutions. Major changes are listed in the Changelog. Answers to frequently asked questions can be found in the FAQ. These terms and conditions are updated approximately once a year without prior notice. We therefore recommend that you check them regularly.

2. Terms of Use for XML Module

The XML module is our leading API technology for setting up real-time integration based on XML message traffic between ANVA 4/5 and other systems. The XML module consists of a collection of XML interfaces in the form of APIs to control message traffic to and from specific parts of ANVA. For example, to view, modify, archive, and/or delete data outside ANVA. You can also use the interfaces of the XML module to reuse data in external applications and send back responses and results. This allows you to use that data appropriately elsewhere in your process, for example, to display an overview per relationship, contract, file, or claim.

2.1. Intended use

The module is not designed for performing bulk actions, such as requesting extensive overviews in an unstructured manner and requesting multiple groups of records at the same time. ANVA offers other solutions for requesting data in bulk, namely via Extract and the Data Platform.

Using the XML module for bulk queries will slow down other processes on the ANVA server and cause timeouts when processing XML messages. The ANVA server must be able to process an XML message within a specified number of seconds, otherwise a timeout will occur. A timeout is often an indication that the interfaces are being used improperly or incorrectly. Modifying an XML statement is sometimes the simplest solution. In other cases, an approach other than XML message traffic via our APIs must be chosen.

A rate limiting rule will be active in the web application firewall as of November 28, 2024. The rule stipulates that no more than 3,600 requests per minute may be sent from the same IP address. If more than 3,600 requests per minute are sent, each request will be responded to with a '429 Too Many Requests' status code and the message will no longer be processed. If, after an evaluation period of 5 minutes, fewer than 3,600 requests per minute are sent, the messages will be processed again.

2.2. End-of-life AWACS

The XML interface has been part of ANVA for a long time, with the former AWACS module serving as the gateway for message traffic. The latter is an outdated technology and the module has a number of shortcomings in terms of manageability and information security when used incorrectly or in inappropriate technical environments. We recommend replacing old AWACS connections with the interfaces of the XML module or other data solutions as soon as possible. The AWACS module will reach end-of-life on March 1, 2024. For these reasons, we are making it clear that the use of the AWACS module is no longer permitted.

3. Terms of Use Data Platform

3.1 What is the ANVA Data Platform?

The ANVA Data Platform is a cloud-based data solution from ANVA that runs on Snowflake technology for obtaining and storing raw source data from ANVA and external data sources. The platform enables you to securely store, process, and access data in bulk from your ANVA environment. You have access to the various access options that Snowflake offers for accessing data. The ANVA Data Platform provides a robust and scalable environment for your data and application landscape.

3.2 Connection and costs

As a customer with a software subscription to ANVA, you get access to the ANVA Data Platform. The necessary licenses, software and platform components, and the basic costs for data transport, data storage, and data extraction are included in your regular ANVA subscription based on your fair use limit.

It is important to note that every data query and disclosure on the Data Platform incurs one-to-one costs for the ANVA organization. Incorrect and unnecessary use leads to high and potentially unsolicited costs.

We continuously monitor the use of the platform, and if the number of queries exceeds your fair use limit, you will be charged. We may also contact you in advance if we determine or expect that the organization you work for is incurring unusually high, prolonged, and/or excessive data costs on the Data Platform.

Data costs above the fair use limit are charged on the basis of credits. This is the billing unit that applies to the use of the Data Platform. As a customer, ANVA provides you with a number of credits per period to be used as fair use units, based on the number of financial contracts and insurance policies you process in ANVA.

3.3 Technical, credentials, certificates

Your ANVA data is sent via a secure connection to the ANVA Data Platform, which is based on Snowflake technology and hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Germany. Each customer has their own strictly secured and protected section of the platform. The data is validated, structured, and prepared in the Operational Datastore (ODS) and the Datamart and can be accessed using schemas. The data on the ANVA Data Platform is refreshed more than once a day on request to ensure that you always have access to the most up-to-date information.

ANVA creates the users who need access to use the ANVA Data Platform. To access the ANVA Data Platform, credentials are issued in the user's name. Each application and each user must have their own user account. It is expressly prohibited to provide credentials to colleagues or share them with third parties. For each solution on the Data Platform, we choose the most secure authentication method available.

To use the ANVA Data Platform ODS with Datamart, you will receive the necessary user certificates from us. You will receive a set for each Data Platform environment. These are provided separately for each Data Platform. Please note: certificates from different environments cannot be exchanged. If you use the ANVA Data Platform in combination with ANVA partner solutions, you must request a separate certificate for each data solution with such a party. These certificates are non-transferable. Requests for (additional) certificates can be made per ticket via anva.nl.

3.4 Responsibilities

ANVA assumes responsibility for ensuring the proper delivery, continuity, and accessibility of the ANVA Data Platform. ANVA is committed to the professional execution of all necessary technical processes and precautions in the data chain. By using the platform, you unconditionally agree to our terms and conditions and to pay additional costs if you exceed the number of credits provided per period.

3.5 Data ownership

As a customer, you remain the owner of all your organization's data stored in the ANVA Data Platform from ANVA.

3.6 Processor information

The processing agreement and the Software Product Quality document explain how ANVA handles the processing of your data. These documents are part of the agreement between the customer and ANVA.

3.7 Intellectual property rights and AI

The intellectual property rights to the ANVA Data Platform, the technical design, and Datamart, including all documentation, are held by ANVA bv. It is not permitted to publish, share, or reproduce parts of the platform, the infrastructure design, and/or other content without the written consent of ANVA. Violation of this policy may result in direct liability for the customer and a liability claim by ANVA.

Uploading your customer-specific ANVA 4/5/6 data to AI and/or AI-based language models outside the ANVA architecture is permitted within the framework of current laws and regulations. The use of the Data Platform as an AI solution or AI-based language model in the broadest sense of the word is expressly prohibited, even if ANVA has been or will be paid for this. Violations will result in direct liability for the customer and a liability claim by ANVA.

3.8 Support

ANVA provides technical and functional support for the ANVA Data Platform through its Customer Support department. Support is provided on the basis of the Support and SLA agreements that have been concluded.

3.9 Further development and changes

The ANVA Data Platform is subject to continuous improvement and expansion. Changes may be necessary to implement new functionalities or improve existing functions. In specific cases, this may require efforts on your part as a customer. Costs for future functionalities may apply and may lead to adjustments or expansions of these terms of use.

4. Terms of Use for Business Insights

If you use or wish to use ANVA Business Insights, additional terms and conditions apply. These are/will be provided when you request the solution via ANVA Customer Support.
