Consolidation and an aging insurance industry are creating a scarcity of ANVA administrators, while complexity and required skills are increasing. To continue to develop efficiently as a company, sufficient manpower is needed. That is why ANVA is merging the wishes of its customers and opportunities on the labor market into an innovative training program. We are starting a new traineeship this spring, to train enthusiastic and motivated lateral entrants to become a new generation of functional ANVA administrators.
Searching, matching, screening, training, continuing education and having fun. After welcoming over 150 participants in the ANVA Academy in one year and looking back with satisfaction on our successful Cobol University training program, we are taking the next step to increase the number of experienced ANVA staff in the insurance market. Together with and for our customers we will start the very first traineeship ANVA administrator this spring. Daan van der Lugt (CCO at ANVA) and Maartje Kool (Talent Acquisition Specialist at ANVA) are happy to explain.
Daan says: "The ANVA Academy and Cobol University have taught us how to use our practical experience and didactic skills optimally. Moreover, this has also given us experience in the recruitment and selection of trainees. We know our way around, support our clients on a knowledge level and see these pathways as a unique addition to our services. Good cooperation with local partners such as the Werkgevers Servicepunt regio Amersfoort are crucial in this respect."
In the HR field, the new traineeship requires an extra level of depth. Maartje: "The recruitment for this traineeship will be slightly more complex than the recruitment for the Cobol University. This is because we will be recruiting at different locations in the country - around our clients' locations - and for different employers - each with their own corporate culture. At the same time, our focus on the target group (lateral entrants) and our working area (all of the Netherlands) offers additional opportunities." Maartje focuses on lateral entrants who are enthusiastic and intrinsically motivated for this new role for them. Furthermore, the learning and thinking ability is examined with an assessment and, of course, the client is involved in the selection.
Within the existing Cobol University, the backgrounds of our trainees are very diverse. "It is precisely this diversity that makes it a very fun, enthusiastic group. People learn from each other in different ways. We also want to turn this group of trainees into a close-knit community. We facilitate this by starting the traineeship in the first six weeks at our headquarters in Amersfoort, but also by organizing a return day every month and regularly inviting guest speakers during the annual program they follow," says Maartje. In addition, online support is offered and both client and trainee can always contact ANVA with questions.
ANVA customers who recruit an ANVA administrator through the traineeship run no risk. Daan: "The trainees are offered a secondment contract from ANVA for the first year. Only after a year and upon success, a customer takes over the trainee from us. There are of course many factors that influence this, but it is absolutely our aim to offer the client a permanent contract extension for the trainee after the first year."
Maartje complements Daan and concludes, "Of course we also have extensive discussions with our clients at the front end to find out what kind of candidate they are looking for. Someone may be suitable on paper, but they also have to match the company, the culture and colleagues. I see this as a great collaboration between the two HR departments, those of ANVA and those of our client(s). Once we have found a suitable candidate, we discuss the match and arrange an introductory meeting with all parties. Of course, it can also work the other way around. When our customer(s) recruit someone or bring an internal employee to us, we also like to discover someone's motivation for the traineeship."
