From multiple data sets to one truth: that's OneANVA

With the OneANVA project, Aon and ANVA are bringing together multiple separate ANVA sets step by step into one robust and future-proof system. A huge operation that ensures simplicity, quality and provides a strong foundation for the migration to ANVA 6.

A fresh start: from fragmentation to focus

In the insurance industry, acquisitions are the order of the day. Fantastic for growth, but less fun for the IT reality behind them. Aon also noticed this: colleagues were working with multiple ANVA datasets side by side, each with its own setup, rules and "language." That created confusion, extra work and sometimes even a different customer experience for each dataset.

Or as Marnix Zwartbol, Chief Operating Officer at Aon, puts it, "We had several datasets that were almost the same, but just barely. Then you lose speed, overview and ultimately quality."

The solution was clear: one system, one way of working and one truth. Thus OneANVA was born: a long-cherished wish that is now coming true in phases. In joint teams, Aon and ANVA worked intensively on product design, trial conversions and the first final merges. Those first steps have been successfully completed: the next mergers are already planned and awaited with confidence.

One vision, one direction

For Aon, OneANVA means not only technical progress, but a strategic step toward simplicity and professionalism. Marnix indicates: "It provides convenience, speed and one truth, which allows us to serve our customers even better."

Jolanda Bron, head of Aon's proxy business, even calls the project one of her top priorities: "You can only succeed if you continue with fewer systems. The quality improvement is really in every layer: toward customers, but also toward employees." About the collaboration, she says, "Bold, open, constructive and pragmatic. If we don't try, it doesn't happen."

The same energy echoes from ANVA as well. Max Mouwen, CEO of ANVA:
"With OneANVA, Aon has invested heavily in simplifying their landscape: a logical no-regret move. Our consultants have thought along with great pleasure and expertise. Together we are taking a big step towards ANVA 6 with this."

Engineering becomes teamwork

The operation was extensive and intensive. "Between October 15 and 25, we merged the two largest ANVA sets," says Aon project manager Michiel de Boer. "Hundreds of proxy products, tens of thousands of tariff rules and millions of relationships, policies and claims were transferred. That only works with intensive cooperation."

Rob Tilemans, Senior Specialist Application Management at Aon, saw this collaboration in practice every day: "Every ANVA consultant was linked to an internal Aon application manager. The communication was short, the delivery was fast and the work continued. During the conversion, ANVA regularly asked: 'Is it still running?', and it did! Within ten days everything was transferred. A fine example of teamwork."

Expertise that makes everything click

There was also plenty of construction on both technology and functionality on the ANVA side. "The desire to go back to one dataset had existed for some time," says Naomi Stol, Head of Consultancy. "With a project of this caliber, though, you have to make sure that you can bring the entire organization into it. The right moment is very important."

Naomi continues, "We worked in joint teams on policy screens, forms, pool distributions and macros. Everything had to be right before the merge could be finalized."

Consultant Wilfred de Jong emphasizes the unique nature of the project: "Merging datasets happens regularly, but not often within one company. Correct data is one thing, but delivering a directly workable whole is something else. Together we achieved a result we can be proud of."

Ready for ANVA 6

The first successful amalgamations laid the foundation for the next steps and for ANVA 6. Jolanda says it unconcealed: "ANVA 6? Rather yesterday than today."
Marnix adds: "We have shown that together we can make great strides. That gives enormous energy for what is yet to come."
