We have arrived at the last blog of 2023. A good time to take a moment to reflect on a topic we've received many questions about this year AND have been working hard on. What about ODBC and AWACS? That we are saying goodbye to them is well known. But what is the status of both projects?
For both connections, we have developed alternatives. For the ODBC driver on ANVA 4/5, it is ANVA Extract combined with a data platform for each client. Since 2021, our new XML module is available to replace AWACS. That is an APIs through OpenID. I am happy to see that we have now transitioned 60+ customers from ODBC to Extract with each their own data platform and that there are already 72 customers using one or more solutions through an OpenID.
Experience tells us that a new solution does not yet always mean that the old one is no longer used. For both, old and new can coexist. That is why I am devoting this blog to this so close to the end of the year. Because how to move forward?
For those who are still using the old solution because not all solutions have been converted yet, we ask that you contact us so we can coordinate what this means together. Also, do not install the 53.P01.01 or 53.P01.10 release yet! If we are already aware of this, you will receive an email with our advice at the end of this year.
Are you currently still using AWACS? If so, take action soon. The end-of-life is on Feb. 28, 2024, after which you may no longer use AWACS. If you're not ready to switch yet, contact us so we can actively help you in the time ahead. We expect that AWACS can no longer be used after installing either 53.P03.01 or 53.P03.10. Support on AWACS has now expired. Should any errors occur in the near future, we will no longer handle them. If you use AWACS but are not yet familiar with the alternative, please send me an email and we will work together to phase out AWACS. Our Developer Portal contains the technical specifications of the replacement: XML module.
I hope to have given you a brief update with this blog. If you have any questions or concerns we are happy to help, please let us know.
